Who We Are

We are a group of community volunteers who are frustrated with the chronic, critical shortage of doctors and its negative impact on healthcare delivery and hospital emergency department closures. We recognize that without adequate health care and hospital services our community and its quality of life will suffer. This will impact business, real estate, services, industries, education and fewer people will choose to make Stettler and area their home.

Our Vision

With an adequate number of doctors practicing in our area,  and citizen participation, the committee will help secure the healthcare we deserve.

Stettler Needs Doctors will be proactive in keeping Stettler and area informed and educated on the state of doctor recruitment and retention.

Our hospital will have the ability to perform as needed surgeries and triage, as well as providing a robust labor and delivery department staffed with adequate anesthesiologists.

Mission

Stettler Needs Doctors is dedicated to voicing the concerns of our community and fighting to recruit and retain Doctors. We believe everyone deserves access to healthcare, including a local primary care doctor, regardless of where they live.

Our community deserves to have family doctors and access to an Emergency Department/Hospital that will be available 24/7 to meet our needs.

We are unwavering in our commitment to bring Doctors to Stettler.  We will achieve this by keeping attention focused on AHS Medical Affairs, and the shortfalls in its processes that providing quality health care to each rural community it serves. Further to this, we will hold the Province of Alberta, and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) responsible for promptly securing adequate doctors for the Stettler area. We believe that all agencies need to be accountable for the lack of doctors in our community.
